 Description

The itinerary covers the modernist route and the hermitages of Lloret.
Start out from Museum del Mar and follow Mossèn J. Verdaguer promenade until you reach the Town Hall, then turn on the right side till Church Square, here, you will find Sant Romà Parish Church. Continue along Rectoria Street and then along Hospital Vell Street, and stop at the sheltered chapel of Sants Metges. From the chapel, follow Just Marlés Avenue along the covered route of Montbarbat Stream, until you reach the town cemetery, where you will be able to see a number of elaborate modernistic style tombs designed by J. Puig i Cadafalch and disciples of the Gaudí School. Before you arrive at the cemetery, however, you pass the Apolo and Daphne monument, which commemorates the town's thousand years of history.
Exiting from the back of the cemetery, and continuing along the path you will reach the Sant Quirze Hermitage, which dates before the 11th century. Continuing on along the sandy paths, you will come to a road leading to the Condado de Jaruco residential area, which you must pass through Mare de Déu de Gràcia Avenue. You will find a crossroad at the end of the paved road in the residential area and at the beginning of the sandy path. Not far from this crossroad, you will see the Angel Monument rising a-top of the hill. Do not leave the main sandy path, but keep to the signposts that you find. You will pass by the Angel golf course and cross the bridge over Passapera Stream. Along this stretch of the path, you will stride through a diverse and well-conserved riverside wood.
On the other side of the bridge, you will see the Mare de Déu de Gràcia Oratory, a small chapel, before you come across Sant Pere del Bosc Hermitage. Heading back in the direction that you came to join the path, you will find a signpost that points to a shortcut. Follow it to go to the Vilar Sanctuary in Blanes.
To reach the Iberian settlement in Montbarbat, you can follow the same path. Only be careful not to be misled by the rounded granite outcroppings and the numerous woodland roads that you will find along the way. From Montbarbat you can enjoy wonderful views of the coast and the coastal mountain range. The trail continues past Can Daura to the Angel Golf course and then back to Lloret de Mar.
